WELCOME TO WOODCUT MUSIC
New Zealand's Music Production Professionals
Music. It sets the mood, establishes style, and heightens interest. It adds quality to products, highlights urgency, stimulates drama and excitement.
Music is vital to communication success. For 20 years at Woodcut we’ve been working with music and audio to make all these things happen.
Woodcut has helped documentaries come alive, added atmosphere and heightened interest in TV commercials, and contributed to the success of a number of television programmes, audio books and online promotions.
Woodcut is an established and proven participant in the vibrant New Zealand music scene. We’ve encouraged local artists with our successful labels Move The Crowd Records, Empire Records and more recently with Maori artists at Waatea Music. Our portfolio of work includes ‘Brother” the longest running New Zealand No. 1 Hit by Smashproof that featured Gin Wigmore. It held the top spot on the New Zealand charts for a remarkable 11 consecutive weeks and beat a 21-year-old record. Woodcut has produced 5 x top 20 singles, and in 2018 Woodcut published music was streamed over 30 million times on Spotify alone. Woodcut’s awards so far include four ‘Tui’s’ (NZ music awards), three Pacific Music Awards, three Maori Music Awards, Triple Platinum, Double Platinum and Gold singles, and and a Gold album.
Music and audio is our business. Unforgettable music created by New Zealand artistic and production talent.
‘Juse’ is our creative and engineering head. As well as releasing his own critically acclaimed album, he’s worked with many household names in the New Zealand music scene, had his music licenced in a range of well known films, and composed music for The Black Grace Dance Company.
Aaron looks after the business side of Woodcut and has a unique background in licensing, production management and marketing, working across audio and video. Aaron is supported by Hayden, who is not only a more than capable sound and mixing engineer, but also contributes with artist support and administration.
In the studio you will meet Tom, Woodcut’s in-house engineer and producer. Tom is a rare talent who always makes a significant contribution to the quality of a Woodcut production with his range of music and production abilities.
Woodcut is located in Aucklands city fringe of Eden Terrace.. Unpretentious on the outside, but inside our studio is packed with cutting edge technology. While our technology is up-to-the-minute it is our attitude as ‘facilitators’ that sets us apart. We have both the attitude and the technology necessary to create great music and audio for our clients.

Woodcut also provides complete sound design, production and audio post services for TV, film, animation and on-line advertising. All at broadcast quality.
As well as publishing New Zealand’s premier Production Music library, Woodcut also publishes a range of artists, each with a unique and authentic voice. Many of these songs can be licenced with a one stop clearance (both masters and publishing).
With experience and contacts across all facets of the local music industry, Woodcut provides a range of music consulting services particularly in regard to licensing and music supervision.
Over the last 20 years, we’ve developed relationships with musicians and artists all around New Zealand.
New Zealand is an amazing ‘do it yourself ’ music world. While artists like Lorde, Savage and Fat Freddy’s Drop are successfully positioning New Zealand music in the world scene, the availability of ever advancing sound technology has enabled hundreds of Kiwi musicians and producers to pursue their interest in creating great music. The result is that there are talented artists all around New Zealand creating a vast spectrum of musical genres. We’ve been collecting a huge variety of original music from this diverse range of sources and it is now available on our library website. What sets us apart is not just the typical genres, but also our amazing range of contemporary and traditional Maori and Polynesian styles. The Woodcut library is an easy and cost efficient way to find the music your project requires and is licensed via APRA/AMCOS.
The Woodcut library is available to you in NZ & Australia via APRA/AMOCOS, with rate-card fees, licenses and approvals all in one easy step, and there is no joining fee. It gives you entry into a world-class collection of original New Zealand commercially usable music. Contact us if you need help with setting up an account.
